Whether you taste professionally or are still building your palate, recognising wine faults is one of the most useful skills for quality assurance in the production and service of wine. In this hands-on hour, Michael Darby of Wine Ed Co uses FlavorActiV reference capsules, pharmaceutical grade fault standards. You will be able to compare wines with and without the fault standard.
We'll work through six key faults: Brett (barnyard), mousy, musty (cork taint), geraniol, acetaldehyde (oxidation) and lightstruck. You'll leave able to name what's wrong in a glass and explain why.
