WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits, 13th August Caro Tasting Room, Auckland
The WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits is a one day, internationally recognized qualification intended for people who have little or no prior knowledge of spirits.
The course includes tasting and evaluating 10 different spirits, such as rum, vodka, gin, tequila, cognac and whiskies. It is designed to provide a sound but simple introduction to spirits and cocktail making. Aimed to assist those who need a basic familiarity with the main styles and categories, for example people who work with spirits in the retail and hospitality sectors.
Successful candidates will be able to list the principal spirits categories, state their defining characteristics, and know the key principles involved in creating a perfectly balanced cocktail. You will confidently be able to answer customer queries and provide recommendations for spirits service.
Lunch is provided, the course day will involve evaluation and tasting of spirits. Therefore, you must be of legal drinking age to enrol.
